WHAT AM I PASSIONATE ABOUT?

TEAM SPORTS

Ever since I was young, I have loved team sports. I began playing soccer when I was five years old and played until I was a Junior in High School. Having a heart for competition, I always strived to be the best soccer player I could be. I was not threatened by teammates that were more skilled or athletic than I was, instead, I saw them as an example of how I could grow and improve upon my own abilities. Team sports teaches you the power of accountability as you take on personal responsibilities on and off the playing field that will impact your team as a whole. It solidifies your interpersonal skills as you learn how to communicate and collaborate efficiently and effectively with your teammates to accomplish the same goals. My passion for sports and the skillsets I learned from my team years ago, I carry into my work today.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

My faith is the most integral part of my life. Therefore, finding opportunities to serve my faith community and grow deeper in my own faith is a constant pursuit for me. During my high school years, I began developing a deeper love and passion for my faith and became involved in a ministry called BeLoveRevolution (BLR).  BLR aims to create a vibrant and encouraging community of young women rooted in the Christian Gospel. For six years, I have contributed to the ministry by volunteering at summer camps, worship events and working as a summer intern in 2021. In an effort to help make the Hillsdale College Community more familiar with the work of BLR, I arranged to have founders, Debbie and Peter Herbeck speak to students on Hillsdale’s campus. This was featured in the Collegian, Hillsdale’s Campus newspaper.

MISSION TRIPS

Serving others is what fuels my passions and instills in me a greater zeal for life. Throughout my life, I have sought opportunities to humbly offer my time and talents to loving and caring for individuals outside of my immediate community. I am also grateful for how my hispanic heritage has opened my eyes to the significance of empathizing, appreciating and relating to individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures. In 2019 I had the privilege of traveling to Mexico City for a mission trip with a group from my high school. I was there to provide food, clothes, companionship and assistance with minor health care needs.  However, what I received in return from the people I served was infinitely more valuable. Spending time with them gave me the gift of joy, generosity, and gratitude.
